The Silver Leafs Skate School is designed around the guidelines of the Ice Skating Institute (ISI), a nationally recognized program that takes both recreational and serious skaters from beginning to advanced levels. Leafs Ice Centre classes are all taught by Professional Skaters Association (PSA) or ISI qualified instructors.
The Learn-to-Skate program is designed for children who have never skated before or who have limited skating experience. It teaches the fun and fundamentals of skating. Using music and games, the program teaches the fundamentals needed to continue on to the next (basic) skill level, and how to interact with other children.
Tots – Parents & Tots (3-5 years old)
These classes focus on introducing young children to beginning
skating skills in an atmosphere of fun, using games and ice-safe
toys to help teach basic skills.
Basic Skills
The Alpha - Delta Class level begins when skaters have passed all
five levels of Learn-to-Skate. It has four test levels: Alpha, Beta,
Gamma, Delta. Students begin to concentrate on proper stroking,
solid edges, and beginning jumps. Skaters can incorporate these
moves into musical programs choreographed by the coaches.
